Thousands gather for Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Phu Quoc

The Christmas tree lighting event, "Sunny Go Around," held on Nov. 25, illuminated the center of Sunset Town, Phu Quoc, with music, lights, and a fireworks display.

Phu Quoc has been positioning itself as a notable Christmas destination, with festive themes appearing across resorts, commercial streets, and coastal entertainment areas.

Sunset Town has become a focal point of the celebrations. Its central square features a giant Christmas tree, while surrounding areas - from luxury accommodations and the Sunset Bazaar to the Vui Phet night market and performances such as "The Symphony of the Sea" and "Kiss of the Sea" - offer visitors various holiday activities described locally as a "tropical Christmas."

Since late November, Sunset Town has adopted a Christmas ambiance. Streets and buildings are decorated with lights and seasonal ornaments, accompanied by music and daily street performances, including acoustic bands, violinists, stilt walkers, and entertainers in holiday-themed costumes. At Sunset Bazaar, a giant Christmas tree and a carousel featuring Sunny mascots draw crowds throughout the evening.

In addition to the tree lighting ceremony, Phu Quoc offers a range of festive programs suited for different types of visitors. Shops at Sunset Bazaar are decorated for the season, with the scents of ginger tea, gingerbread, and hot chocolate contributing to a holiday atmosphere. Christmas music plays throughout the area, which remains active late into the night. Visitors can browse shops, receive seasonal gifts, take advantage of promotions, or enjoy the ambiance at restaurants and cafés.

Phu Quoc is also hosting two nightly performances during the Christmas period. "The Symphony of the Sea" features music, extreme sports elements, and multi-layered fireworks. "Kiss of the Sea" presents a large-scale show with 60 international performers using fire, water, lasers, lighting effects, and coordinated fireworks.
