U Bein Bridge
U Bein is a famous bridge on the outskirts of Mandalay. It is the oldest wooden bridge and longest on the world.
U Bein with a length of 1.2 km was made
from teak wood and crossing the Taungthaman shallow lake, Mandalay. The
bridge was built by U Bein people in the mid-19th century when the
capital Innwa (Ava) Kingdom was moved closer to Amarapura.
Because there are no handrails and great
length, would be very difficult. So you have to be very careful when
going through the bridge.
The bridge has become a familiar location of the local people and the Buddhists come to see the sun set in the end of the day
